Billy Joe Williams, 79, passed away August 17, 2009. He was born March 13, 1930 in Charlie, Texas to George and Artie Williams. He worked for Tom Browns Optical Service, a wholesale optical company, for 40 years. He was active in The Independent Order of Foresters, a Fraternal Organization. He earned his GED at the age of 60. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary; son, Chester and wife, Diana of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Ben of Oklahoma City; son, Randy and wife, Dawn of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; daughter, Diana of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren Emi, Sam, Abby and Andy; sister, Pauline Watts of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; sister, Mary Lou Singletary of Lady Smith, Wisconsin; and sister, Sula Goforth and husband, Bishop C.W. Goforth of Largo, Florida. Viewing will be Wednesday, noon to 9pm and Thursday 8am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Friday, August 21, 1:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
