Billy Roy Weaver, 79, affectionately known as the "Father of Adult Day Services" in Oklahoma, died August 20, 2016 in OKC. He was born August 6, 1937 in McAlester, OK to Othal and Vivian (Pabst) Weaver. He was the President of Daily Living Centers, the first Adult Day Care in Oklahoma. He worked with the legislature and agencies to develop programs for the frail and handicapped. LeadingAge OK honored Bill in March with the Outstanding Advocate Award and there truly was no person more deserving of such recognition. He was considered a champion, an unwavering advocate, and a great friend who will be missed. Bill pursued graduate education with the University of Florida, University of North Florida, and Florida State University. Community involvement included being named the United Way Agency Director of the Year in 1993; steering committee, Oklahoma City Aging Consortium; designed and implemented a unique transportation system; past chair, Aging Services advisory committee, Dept. of Mental Health; appointed member, Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia; daughter, Robbe (Weaver) Roberts and husband Mark; brother, Nick Weaver; 2 grandchildren, Steven Newkirk and Jerrot Lewis; 4 great-grandchildren; and the devoted staff of Daily Living Centers.
