Billy Joe Pearson of Warr Acres, Oklahoma went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2009. B.J. succumbed to a serious illness after being blessed with 81 years of life. He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to parents Jack and Myrtle Pearson. He attended Putnam City High School, Class of 1947. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he fought for his country in World War II. After being discharged from the service, he met and married his bride of 61 years, Mary Anne Egan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. B.J. went on to a 37 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. During this time of raising his family and working for the phone company, he found time to give back to his community. He was one of the founding members of the Warr Acres Reserve Police Department -- an accomplishment that was always near and dear to him. He also formed a Boy Scout Troop in the late fifties. B.J. and Mary Anne enjoyed many activities together. They enjoyed Square Dancing and made numerous friends. Their love of travel led them to travel all over the United States and eventually join The Modern Wagoneers R.V. Club where they have been members for 25 years.
B.J. is survived by his bride, Mary Anne; son Jack Pearson and family of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Brenda Stephenson and family of Cashion, Oklahoma; son Bobby Joe Pearson and family of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren. B.J. was always a loving husband, great dad, an awesome grandfather and Daddypapoo. He was always involved in his children and grandchildrens lives through travel, band, dance, scouts and ball.
Viewing will be Wednesday, October 14, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at his home church, Calvary Chapel of OKC, located at 7510 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Spring Creek Cemetery. Police Escorts will be provided by fellow officers of the Warr Acres Police Department. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
