Billy Rex Ludwig, 80, died July 8, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born December 4, 1939 in Hennessey, OK, to Fonnie and Faye (Troyer) Ludwig. He married Edith Louise Faidley on June 23, 1968 in Temple, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Becky Coder. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Edie; daughters, Lou Ludwig of Piedmont, OK, Keri Stevens (Mark) of Clearwater, KS, Kandi Moutinho (Ricardo) of OKC, OK, and Kim Haley-Ellis (Monte) of Tiverton, RI; brother, Gary Joe Ludwig; 14 grandchildren, Dillon and Weston Ludwig, Megan, Emma, Michael and Matthew Stevens, Victoria, Micah, and Valerie Moutinho, Connor Haley and Lucas Ellis, Camryn, Sandra, and Natalie Ellis; and great-grandchild, Liliana Garrett.
Rex spent his career as a pastor and a missionary. As a young man, he felt the call to the ministry, and even specifically to a certain city in Brazil. He and Edie started their missionary life in Panama, and soon after went to Brazil. They did end up working in that city he had prayed for those many years. They became church planters and started many churches in the south of Brazil, resulting in many lives impacted for the Lord. After their retirement from the mission field, Rex and Edie came to live in Oklahoma, close to their kids. Rex continued to work as an associate pastor for their church until two years before his passing. Rex was Pawpaw to his grandkids and thrived in having them around; the house would often be filled with lots of noise and laughter. He was well-loved and honored by his wife, kids, and grandkids. Services will be at Mercer-Adams Chapel with private family interment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
