Billy Joe Harris passed away at home in the early morning of April 7, 2011. He was born November 17, 1933 to W.F. and Ethel Harris in Davenport, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bethany High School in 1952. After returning from military service in 1956 he completed his B.S. degree at Southern Nazarene University in 1962. He married Rita Chandler November 28, 1958 and celebrated fifty-two years of marriage in 2010. Bill, beloved barber for fifty-three years, was a valued friend and confidant to many. He was a man of many interests, hobbies and talents. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean (Harris) Harrison. His is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Nola Harris Lawrence and husband, William of Fort Worth, TX; son, Rocky Harris and wife, Shannon of Bakersfield, CA; brother David Harris and wife, Janet; brother-in-law Charles Harrison and wife, Billie; granddaughters, Jennifer Laine and Anna Claire Lawrence; and many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2:00pm at Mercer Adams Chapel, Bethany, Oklahoma with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
