Billy Dean Herndon, 90 died on February 15, 2018 Norman, OK. He was born December 29, 1927 in Tulsa, OK to Jewell Lafayette and Jewel Pauline (Bratton) Herndon. He married Thelma Ford on August 31, 1991 in Bethany, OK. Billy retired from VP Herndon Maps Incorporated, where he made oil maps for 55 years. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. Billy was an avid runner, enjoyed gardening and had a special love for his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Dorothy Alma Everett and brother, Marion Russell Herndon. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Herndon of OKC; sisters, Betty June Peevey of Tulsa, OK, Jewel Marie Urban and husband Jim of Lakewood, CO, Linda Sue Bankston of Tulsa, OK, Christy Westbrook and husband Mel of Estero, FL and Cheryl Lynn Veneble and husband Jerrel of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Sunday, February 18, 2018, 11am-9pm with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, February 19, 2pm at Bethany First Assembly of God, 4701 N. Rockwell, with interment in Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimers Association.
