Billy Joe "B.J." Harrod, 85, died July 25, 2018. He was born January 30, 1933 in Olney, TX to Bill and Euna Pearl (Dunnagan) Harrod. He earned his Master of Music at Indiana University including post graduate work and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He loved being an active part of Musical Theatre, both in NY and nationally, including NYC opera. B.J. served as Managing Director of SWE (the Society of Women Engineers) from 1984-1995. In conjunction with SWE members, he successfully developed the NASA grant program to provide funding for outreach programs for minority and at-risk female students. In recognition of his service to SWE, a scholarship award was established and B.J. was presented with the Rodney Chip Award. He was named to Whos Who in America 1988-1989, and Whos Who in the World 1989-1990. Additionally, he was a proud Army veteran. B.J. was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jerry. He is survived by his life partner, Ron Horton of Bethany, and numerous family members and friends. Beloved by all who knew him, he will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 31st, (what would be B.J. and Rons 50th anniversary), 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, OK. For those wishing to contribute to the B.J.
