Obituary

Billie Dorsey was born June 27, 1935, in Oklahoma City and passed away April 8, 2021, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Billie grew up in the Capitol Hill area of Oklahoma City graduating from Capitol Hill High School. At the age of sixteen she married the love of her life, Larry Dorsey, Jr. before he was drafted and sent to serve his country in Germany during the Korean War. While he was overseas, Billie attended Hills Business School after which she began her secretarial career. When Larry safely returned from serving in the armed forces, they began their sixty-three years of marriage. After the birth of their only child, a daughter Kay Lynn Billie became a stay-at-home mother and wife dedicating her time to providing a Christ-centered home for her family. Billie and Larry made faith the center of their home and worshiped for many years at the Capitol Hill Church of the Nazarene. It was there that they were blessed with many dear friendships that have lasted throughout the years. In 1985 they became members of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene where they served in various capacities. Billie returned to the work force in 1973 by joining The Economy Company, educational publishers, where she held many different positions. When TEC was sold to McGraw-Hill, she continued working eventually becoming the editor of adoptions. The company eventually relocated to Texas, and it was at this time that Billie decided it was time to retire and focus her love and affection on her precious grandsons Denver and Blaine. Billie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Larry Acosta; her grandson and wife, Denver and Elisabeth Acosta; and her grandson and wife, Blaine and Hannah Acosta. She is also survived by three precious great-grandchildren Sadie Acosta, Remi Acosta, and Kase Acosta. Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Edna Henn; her sister, Yvonne (Henn) Gossett; her brother, Bill Henn; and her precious husband, Larry.
