Bill McPherson was born July 22, 1922 in Ardmore, OK. Son of Walter and Eula Hargrave McPherson. Bill passed from this life on March 28, 2019 at the age of 96. After serving in the Army Air Corps in WW2, he attended and graduated from Oklahoma City University. He married Edna Lois Poland on February 16, 1947 in Oklahoma City. Throughout his life he was active at Crestwood Baptist Church, National Church Conference of the Blind, and Handicapped For Christ. Survived by four children: William, Randy, Jimmie, and Linda. They had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In 1940, Bill graduated from Ardmore High School. After graduation, he and several friends moved to San Diego, CA to work at Consolidated Aircraft Company. He returned to Ardmore and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1942. After discharge in 1945, he moved to Oklahoma City to pursue a degree at Oklahoma City University under the GI Bill. In 1946 he met Edna Lois Poland on a blind date and married her in 1947. They were married for 52 years until Ednas death in 1999. They had three sons and one daughter. For many years Bill worked for Charles T. Hughes Construction Company as the accountant and estimator. The continuing degradation of his eyesight led him to try selling insurance and then to training as a computer programmer. He completed his working career at the Federal Aviation Administration in the Data Services Division. Following retirement in 1990 he continued his active involvement with the National Church Conference of the Blind and Handicapped For Christ. He was an active member of Crestwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and various church leadership roles.
