He was born October 12, 1933 in Abilene, TX, the youngest of 4 children to Gene and Clytie Campbell. The child of a Nazarene preacher, he moved 17 times between kindergarten and graduation from Cherokee High School in Cherokee, OK. At 19, he enlisted in the Army instead of being drafted where served two years. The GI bill enabled him to enroll in Bethany Nazarene College (Southern Nazarene University) where he earned his Psychology Degree and met his "uncommon" bride," Robbie Diffee. Bill began his business career in the oil & gas industry in 1959 with Franklin Supply in McCook, NE as a field sales representative. Bill left Franklin in 1961, moving to OKC to become sales manager for EdJohn Valve Co. building a very successful sales staff, staying until 1964. He left EdJohn after being offered the national sales manager position with Balon Corporation where he worked from 1964-1969. In 1969, Bill had the opportunity to team up with two other colleagues and began his manufacturing representative career with Richart Distributors. Bill traveled the state selling oilfield equipment generating tremendous success. Bill always had the desire to begin his own company and in 1975 formed Valve Sales, Inc. He successfully ran the company and brought in many family members to the "family business" which provided livelihoods for 44 years. In June 2019, he sold the company to retire. Although he accomplished much in his business career, his greatest pride was serving as Sunday School teacher at Lake View Park Church of the Nazarene for 51 years; and being an active member of LVP for 59 years. Additionally, he served on the Church of the Nazarene NW OK District Sunday School Board and Advisory Board plus the Southern Nazarene University Board of Trustees. He will be remembered as a mentor to many, a colorful storyteller, a consummate churchman, and incredibly generous. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Robbie Campbell; son, Steve Campbell and wife Elissa; daughter, Pam Beers and husband Rich; son, Kent Campbell and wife Cathy; son, Chic Campbell and wife Dolly; daughter, Amy Young and husband Jeff; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and a brother; his son, Todd Campbell; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Campbell. See you later, pops.
