Obituary

Beverly was born Beverly Anne Lundy, November 25, 1935 in Oklahoma City to Bert and Carol Lundy of Bethany, OK. She died October 12, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She was the oldest of three children: Beverly, Ronald and Russell. Beverly attended Bethany Public Schools, Bethany Nazarene College (SNU) and the University of Illinois. The day after graduation from college, she was married to Charles Edwin Jones on May 30, 1956.

Both Charles and Beverly were primarily employed in library work, teaching and writing. They lived in Kansas City, Ann Arbor, western New York State, and Providence, among other places, before settling in Oklahoma City.

In addition to their employment assignments, they have been active in church work, and providing helping hands to the needy. They have delivered Mobile Meals and Beverly has tutored children in Whiz Kids, a local after-school mentoring program.

Beverly was a lifelong learner. She was studying Greek and Hebrew until just a few months before her death. She was an avid reader, primarily of non-fiction, and was always eager to learn new things. She was active in the Oklahoma City Watercolor Association and produced dozens of artistic watercolors and assorted other artistic efforts. In the last few years she was active in a fitness program. Everywhere she got involved she made close friends. Charles and Beverly and their son Karl opened their home and their hearts to many, many people.

Although she is now in heaven, there is a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew her as a caring, loving person. She is missed!

Beverly is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Jones (Oklahoma City); her son, Karl Jones and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Miller (Minneapolis); brother, Ron Lundy (Santa Rosa); and sisters-in-law Carol Lundy (San Antonio) and Geraldine McCoy (Kansas City) as well as numerous and much-loved extended family.
