Obituary

Betty Jean Classen Watson, age 87 of Yukon, Oklahoma met her Lord and Savior on January 6th, 2012 at her home in Spanish Cove Retirement Village. Betty was a woman of deep Christian faith and a tremendous intercessor of prayer. Born to Oklahoma pioneers John Rudolph and Nysa Angeline Classen on August 29th,1924, in Oklahoma City. She lived all of her life in the Oklahoma City/Bethany/Yukon area. She attended Putnam Heights Elementary School, Harding Junior High, and graduated from Classen High School. She was a graduate of Southern Nazarene University, where she met her husband, James (Jim) Watson. They were married July 8th, 1947. They had four children, Ron Watson of Kansas City; Dennis Watson of Yukon; Susan Downs of North Richland Hills, TX; and Shelley Spearman of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is survived by her children and twelve grandchildren as well as two stepchildren, Kenneth Williams and Fran Williams and six stepgrandchildren. In 1963, Betty and Jim launched the YUKON REVIEW newspaper and were its publishers for twenty years. Jim preceded her in death in 1986. Betty married George Williams in 1995. He preceded her in death in 2007. Family visitation will be Monday evening, January 9th, 6-8 p.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Service, Bethany. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10th, 2:00 p.m., at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a longtime member. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany First Church Missions.
