Betty Mae Parkhurst, 85, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 28, 2010. She was born on May 14, 1925 to George and Phoebe Sunderland in Kansas City, MO. During her early childhood she moved with her family to May, OK. After attending the Church of God (Holiness) College in Kansas City, she moved to Woodward, OK where she married Joseph A. Parkhurst. She and her husband operated their business, Parkhurst Electric, until moving to Bethany, OK in 1966 where she attended Bethany Nazarene College. She then worked as a legal secretary at Kerr McGee in OKC until her retirement. She will be missed by her family and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Parkhurst, in 2007. She is survived by daughter, Regena Randall and husband Bill, OKC; son, Dr. J.D. Parkhurst and wife Janet, Bethany; brother, Bill Sunderland and wife Loretta, Woodward; sisters, Maxine Jamison, Yukon, Amelia Atkinson, Garden City, KS, Patty Denney, Woodward, Joy Barnett and husband Carmon, Enid; sisters-in-law Thelma Sunderland, Woodward and Mildred Humble, OKC; 7 grandchildren: Dustin Randall, Lori Ann Shaw, Leigh Garrett, Denver Garrett, Ashton Garrett, Anna Elise Parkhurst, Jacey Parkhurst; and 4 great-grandchildren: Dallas Randall, Austin Shaw, Aaron Shaw, and Juliana Shaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Sat. and Sun., noon-9pm with the family receiving guests on Sunday, 6:30-8:00pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be Mon., Oct. 4, 2:00pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
