Betty Ruth Langston, 93 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2022. Betty was born in Burkburnett, Texas, the fourth of six children to Joe and Reta Robertson on January 13, 1929.
Even though she was born in Texas, Betty always shared she got to Oklahoma as fast as she could. She grew up in Pocasset, Oklahoma and graduated from Pocasset High School in 1945. In March 1946 she met the love of her life, Jack William Langston after he was discharged from the Marine Corps after serving in World War II. They were married on October 13, 1946, at Tuttle Methodist Church after a mostly by mail courtship.
Jack and Betty were ecstatic to become parents to their daughter, Karen Kay, in 1958. While Betty was a happy homemaker, she decided to return to the workforce by working for CMI Corporation and then she moved to work with her beloved husband at Ford Audio Video. She loved her work and tried to retire three separate times before officially retiring at the age of 80.
Betty loved the Lord and enjoyed serving at her dearly loved church, Portland Avenue Baptist Church. Her servant heart kept her involved in many capacities such as the church pianist, director of a childrens choir, Whiz Kids, Vacation Bible School, as well as a Senior Adult Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
Betty adored being a Gran to her granddaughter, Ashley Nicole and her biggest blessings were her two great-grandchildren, Allie Drew and Hayden Jack.
In Bettys pastimes she loved to travel the world, play the piano, study genealogy, play cards and games for hours on end and play hide and seek with her great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Reta Robertson; sisters, Fae Osborn, Doris Vinyard and Patsy Burleson; brother, Darold Robertson; and husband, Jack Langston.
She is survived by brother, Walter Robertson; daughter, Karen Howe and her husband Larry Howe (who was her favorite son-in-law); granddaughter, Ashley Jones and her husband Preston (who was her favorite grandson-in-law); two great-grandchildren, Allie Drew and Hayden Jack; and many more nieces and nephews.
Betty was a devoted wife, mom, gran, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She lives on through those touched by her love. A celebration of Bettys life will be held at Portland Avenue Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 28, 2022. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to her beloved Portland Avenue Baptist Church. Gifts may be made online at www.portlandavenue.org.
