Obituary

Betty Gayle King was born to Clifford and Eva Aikman on June 24th, 1935 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the youngest of three daughters including Elaine and Doris. She left this earth on January 20th, 2011. She lived a full and rich life. She graduated from Classen High School and experienced some of the greatest days of her life as the president of the pep club and as a member of the drama club. She was very popular with her classmates as evidenced by being named the school Friendship Queen. She became a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her other passion in life was dancing. She exercised and danced at Linda Tarpleys Tappers for most of her adult life. She also loved spending summer months at Tanglewood Acres in the Sangre de Cristo Rocky Mountains of Colorado where she enjoyed fixing meals for friends, visiting with neighbors and taking walks in the woods. Betty King excelled in nurturing others. She was a great cook and she leaves us craving for her home cooked brisket and baked beans. She deeply cared about others and truly lived an unselfish life excelling in kindness, humility and service. Betty and E.W. King Jr. (Skipper) enjoyed 55 years of married life together. They raised three children Victor of OKC, Gary of Tulsa, OK and Sherry Kenin of Weston, FL. She was affectionately known as Mimi to her 8 grandchildren, Taylor, Conner, Abby, Courtney, Corbin, Jacob, Libby, and Zachary. Betty championed the concept of family. No one did family better than she. Life is about living your life for other people. Some people study theology but Betty lived it. The fruit of her work and lifetime of her service lives on in her husband, her children, eight grandchildren, and the many others who were touched by her life. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Tues, Jan. 25th, 4:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury Avenue, Bethany, OK 73008.
