Betty Jean Jennings died May 23, 2017, in Oklahoma City. Betty was born October 3, 1921, in Idabel, Oklahoma, the daughter of William A. and Ruby Tripp. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James A. Jennings, Jr., her parents, and her sister Martha Gayle Tripp. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Elizabeth Grissom, of Plano, Texas, her son James A. Jennings, III, of Edmond, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.Betty graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1939 and, thereafter, attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a working mother most of her life, retiring from General Electric Company and the Oklahoma House of Representatives. After her retirement, and until shortly before her death, she knitted caps and blankets for newborn babies at Integris Hospital. She received numerous awards for thousands of hours of volunteer service. She was a member of Mayfair Heights Methodist Church for more than sixty years.
Betty was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She had many friends, who admired and respected her. She will be warmly remembered and missed by all. In the last days of her life, she was fond of saying, "When God closes a door, He opens a window."
