Obituary

Betty Ann (Heidebrecht) Decker passed away August 25, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on March 13, 1934, in a small one-room home outside Weatherford, OK. She attended Oklahoma Public School in her elementary years, to which she had to walk approximately 1 – 1.5 miles. Her mother would pack her a sandwich lunch to take, and after walking past all the sunflowers on the way to school, she did not like her lunch smelling and tasting like sunflowers. She played basketball for this school which she was very good at. She attended junior high school and graduated from high school in Weatherford, OK.

Upon graduation, on a wild chance, she took a test for the State of Oklahoma and received a job in Oklahoma City with the Department of Public Services. She was a transcriptionist for the social workers and later a PBX operator. During this time, she lived at the YWCA in downtown Oklahoma City.

Betty married Carl Decker at a double wedding with her brother, Ervin Heidebrecht and his fiancé, Bobbye Thompson, on September 25, 1954. After the wedding, they moved to Denver, CO. Upon returning to Oklahoma in January 1955, they lived in a small house in Meno, OK. They later moved to Bethany, OK, where she was able to get her job again with the department of Public Welfare.

Betty loved to travel and was elated about their trips to Hawaii and then to Europe for their 40th anniversary. She also enjoyed Branson and the many shows seen at the Sight and Sound Theater.

Her love for travel soon took second place to the many grandchildren arriving. She loved each child with all she had and enjoyed spending time with them at their many activities. Soon great-grandchildren began arriving and increased the amount of time spent on their activities also.

But Betty's ultimate love was for Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Many hours were spent with friends and family discussing His saving grace and loving goodness. Her greatest desire was to see her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren know Him as their personal Savior, and she rejoiced at each of their faith decisions.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Elsie (Nickel) Heidebrecht; husband, Carl Decker; grandson, Steven May; and siblings, Gladys Sawatzky, Ervin Heidebrecht, Melvin Heidebrecht and Norman Heidebrecht.

She is survived by her daughter, Dareta Decker-Sager (David); sons, Kevin Decker (Andrea) and Lane Decker (Susan); 8 grandchildren, Hannah, Gretchen (Kevin), Dustin (Samantha), Jake (Kelly), Lorelei, Annie (Grady), Grace and Sophia; and 9 great-grandchildren.

If you were to ask her today, she would tell you that her greatest life blessing is knowing Jesus!
