Obituary

Bertha was born to Archie and Dorothy Alexander in Ponca City, OK, the youngest of six children. She was known as "Sis" to her oldest brother and best friend, Walter. Bertha Alexander graduated from Ponca City High School in 1957, then attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma.Bertha raised three boys (Randy, Richard and Mark) by herself. They all turned out to be fine men. She was very proud of each of them.Bertha retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with 30 years of exemplary service in 1999. She was an Operator in Florida, Indiana and Oklahoma. She was highly thought of by her supervisors and all of the employees that worked for her or with her.Bertha was recognized for the tireless work that she did as a Telephone Pioneer volunteer, taking care of the "First Responders" during the rescue and search operations after the Murrah Bombing in April, 1995. She made beds, washed clothes, made sandwiches and did whatever they asked of her. All of her time spent as a volunteer was before going to work each day to a full shift as a Service Assistant. Bertha was very proud of that time spent volunteering and serving. In December of 1996, she was coerced to have dinner with James Augenstein, to stop her friends from trying to marry her off (so she thought; she had been single for 18 years). Jim and Bertha later started dating in February, 1997, which finally led to their marriage in Las Vegas on July 17, 1997.Bertha is survived by her husband, James Augenstein; sons, Randall Goldman, Richard Goldman and wife Yungah; Mark Goldman; daughters, D'Layne Reynolds, and Dr. Jamie Augenstein. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kaylla Goldman, Nicole Moore, Joshua Goldman, Lindsay Goldman, Nathan Goldman, Kody Reynolds, Shelby Reynolds; and her two great-grandchildren, Keilanni Moore and Noble Moore, III.
