Bernice passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by those she held most dear on the evening of May 28, 2016 at the age of 61. She was born Bernice Louise Day on January 26, 1955 to Tommie and Mary Lu Day in Temple, TX. Bernice was a woman of many interests and talents. She was the family historian, a church librarian, a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, a Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the The Singing Church Women of Oklahoma. She was a fabulous fan - she loved watching her children compete and perform, she loved OU football and basketball, and she was a loyal Thunder fan. She loved to travel and especially loved the American Southwest and the National Parks. She was artistic, enjoying photography, needlework, jewelry-making, and scrapbooking. She loved reading and cherished her books as some of her most prized possessions. Bernice mirrored the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forgiveness, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. She was cherished as a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and finished her race gracefully, her faith staying strong throughout the process. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Charlie; her son, Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Rachel, and her cherished grandson, Greysen; her son, Patrick and daughter-in-law, Nicole; her brother, Tom Day and his family; and countless loving friends. She was well-loved and will be dearly missed. Viewing will be Tues. May 31 from 12-9pm and Wed. June 1 from 9am-9pm with family present both days from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Service will be at 2:00pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Village Baptist Church.
