Bernadine Bowes, 83, went peacefully to meet her Lord on October 20, 2013. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Viewing will be on Tuesday, October 22, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Swaziland Partnership through Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Bernadine was born May 26, 1930 in Thomas, OK to Henry and Goldie Zerby. After growing up in the Custer City area, she met and married Joe (JD) Bowes of Clinton on October 11, 1953. They moved to Amarillo, TX where she worked as bookkeeper, church secretary and homemaker. The family moved to Yukon in 1972 and Bernadine began a second career in bank accounting, then later, pouring her life into child care from her home. Bernadine was preceded in death by both her parents and step-dad, Wesley Zerby; her husband, Joe, and infant daughter, Shelley Dawn Bowes; sisters, Phillis Shepherd and Debbie Zerby and brother, K D Zerby. She is survived by her son, Greg Bowes and wife Joy and her very special grandson, Nicholas; her loving daughter, Jana Bowes; brother, John Zerby and wife Verlane of Custer City; brother, Earl Zerby and wife Carol of Yukon; brother-in-law, Galen Shepherd and wife Gail of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Sandy Zerby; and numerous special nieces and nephews dear to her heart.
