Benton Victor "Paw Paw" Furrh, 95, died February 5, 2014 in Norman, OK. He was born January 21, 1919 in Wills Point, TX to Wilburn and Ollie (Walker) Furrh. He spent his early adult years in Memphis, TX, Sulphur, OK and OKC. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Surgical Technician in the 2 Division and was highly decorated for his part in the European African, Mid-Eastern Campaign. He married Ola Fay Benton in September, 1943 and they shared over 70 years together. He spent 33 years with Dolese Bros. working his way to lead welder in OKC. Immediately prior to his military career, he proudly served in CCC. He was a mentor to countless youth as a Boy Scout counselor and troop leader. Benton was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Survivors include his wife, Ola Fay; children, Tony and wife Niki, Nancy Stanley, Terry Lee, Jerry Lynn and wife Laurie, all of OKC; 3 brothers and 1 sister, all of TX; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm, with family present from 4-6pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, February 10, 2:00pm at Putnam City Baptist Church with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
