Benita Harriett Barrett, 84, died at her home in Oklahoma City on January 28, 2020. She was born May 12, 1935 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Romalie Higgins and Benjamin Sidney Murphy. She married Jerry Dee Barrett on September 18, 1953. Benita was a graduate of Central High School, Oklahoma City, class of 1953. She was the owner/operator of Aquarium Concepts tropical fish store, Warr Acres, OK. She grew orchids, cactus and succulents and crafted ceramics and beaded jewelry. She enjoyed reading and Oklahoma Sooners football. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Alan Barrett; and siblings, George Ellis Murphy, Jack Warren Murphy, and Harry Michael Murphy. Benita is survived by her husband, of the home; children: Michelle (Barrett) Nichols, Corpus Christi, TX and Jerry Defane Barrett and his wife Sally, Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren: Jesse, Jenna, Joshua, Jeremy, Kevin, Charlsie, Peter, Ethan and Bonnie; five great grandchildren; and siblings: Patricia Foley, Pamela Jones, William Murphy, Harry Murphy, Sid Murphy and Dennis Murphy.
