Ben Baxter, age 85, left this world of suffering and went running into the arms of Jesus, Monday night, June 15, 2015. He passed away at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. Ben was born to the late Nila and Booth Baxter in Protection, Kansas. He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Baxter. He met the love of his life in South Carolina when he was in the Army Air Force. They married February 6, 1949. He was a member of the Jaycees, First Baptist Church of Caney, Kansas, and Suncrest Baptist Church in Tulsa. Ben's last career was as an expeditor for Charles Wheatley Company in Tulsa, OK. He also worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, and he was a partner with his dad in Baxters' Auto Service for many years in Caney, Kansas. He loved to travel, work on cars, could fix most anything, and took pride in his family, yard and home. Ben is survived by his beloved spouse of 66 years, 011ie Baxter; two children: Gary Baxter and wife Diann of Denton, Texas, and Regenia Newton and husband Larry of Yukon, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Dan Baxter, Matt Baxter, Amber Terrell, Ashley Sims, and John Newton, 7 great-grandchildren: Reagan Sims, Emersyn Sims, Boothe Baxter, Addison Terrell, Luke Baxter, Parker Newton, and Bailey Newton. He is also survived by one sister, Delores Keck of Camdenton, Missouri. His family would like to thank the staff of Prairie Winds and Integris Hospice for his extended care and Dr. Kyle Rickner for his care and compassion the past two years. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 19th, at 2 PM. Burial will follow at the Yukon Cemetery in Yukon, OK.
