Barbara Sue (Jones) Snowbarger was born on January 3, 1942 in Amarillo, TX to Robert Dow Jones and Mary Lucy (Hanson) Jones. She passed away on December 25, 2023 in Bethany, OK.
Barbara lived in Bethany for over 45 years and was active in the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene for many years where she served on the board and was a member and president of the choir.
Barbara had two sons, Samuel (Sam) and Eli, whom she loved dearly and always treasured spending time with. She was devoted to her sons and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Barbara was extremely intelligent and graduated from Bethany Nazarene College in 1964 with a major in Sociology. She would go on to earn her Master of Science from Southern Nazarene University in 1995. Her degrees led her to work as a social worker, an Executive Director of the Abilene's Girls Home, a Court Related and Community Services Worker and Child Welfare Worker, Director of Social Services at the Children's Convalescent Center and Chief Psychologist at St. Anthony's Children's Psychiatric Hospital. She was passionate about her career and dedicated to the children that were in her care.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Dow Jones, Mary Lucy McLaurin (Hanson) (Jones) and her step-father, William Rex (Pat) McLaurin. Also gone were her older brother, George Farmer Jones and younger brother, William Rex McLaurin, Jr. Barbara is survived by son, Sam and his wife, Carie of Midwest City and by son, Eli of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Zachary and Lillie of Midwest City.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00pm on Saturday, January 27 at Mercer-Adams Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethany Children's Health Center.
