She graduated from Yukon High School in 1955, then attended Draughons Business College, for a year, to fulfill her ambition to be a secretary. She worked at Nissens Shoe store for a few years as a bookkeeper and a filer, she also worked at Kerr McGee for a while. She met her husband at Nissens Shoe store; he was a salesman. On their first date, they went to El Reno for a drive in the snow. Their courtship lasted 4 months; he took her to a drive-in for a cola, and he took her senior ring off and slipped the engagement ring on her finger. Her parents were very surprised due to the length of their courtship. They were married at the First Christian Church in Yukon in July of 1957. When the children got older, she worked as a secretary at Overholser Elementary for 24 yrs. She was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene; she helped prepare food for the families who lost love ones. She was in the booster club at Southern Nazarene University College. When the children were young, to earn a little money, she ironed clothes. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, and was a good nurse maid when you were ill.
The family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care of Tuscany Village Nursing Home where she spent the last one and a half years of her life.
