Obituary

On Friday, May 27, 2022, Heaven opened arms to welcome Barbara Jean Nutter, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend & Christ follower. She passed of natural causes in her home at the age of 85. Barbara was born February 6, 1937 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Harold & Edith Marsh Forsythe. Her parents provided a loving home with a devout faith in Christ. She was blessed with 3 incredible siblings, Joan, Kenn & Carolyn. Though the miles have separated them for years, their heartstrings remained strong & they continued to enjoy long phone conversations mostly about the Packers & visits whenever they could. Following graduation from Neenah High, Barb joined the United States Womens Army Corp where she served a brief term. It was here that she met & married Larry Dennis Halsey in 1956. Their union brought 4 children Pat, Dan, Don & Jean. Barbs sense of courage & perseverance was made evident in raising three boys just 13 months apart in age. Barb & Larrys adventures in the military took them to the Germany, Ft. Benning, GA & Ft. Sill/Lawton, OK. Lawton brought unexpected change to Barbs life. It was here that she met & married the love of her life, Major Billy Harmon. They were married in 1973 & soon thereafter arrived sweet son, Billy. Barbs family grew to include Bills 7 children Randy, Rhydonia, Rhygonna, Ricky, Ronnie, Rhonda & Robert. With 12 children in tow, Bill & Barb may have been the original his, hers & ours! Bill & Barbara made their home in Anadarko, OK for the next 30 years where they established 2 successful businesses Mister Bills Barber Shop in 1973 & Caddo Printing in 1980. Barb served as CEO of both business & home. We all remember her comforting meals of beef stew, ebelskivers & apple pie. All the while maintaining a spotless home. It was in Anadarko that the most important change of all happened for Barb. Together, Bill & Barb attended Nazarene camp meeting & there committed to a knowing, saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Neither one was ever the same. They fought hard for their marriage & for their faith by diving in headfirst in service to the church. Barb taught Sunday School, vacation Bible school, served on the board & served as treasurer for many years. Her devout Catholic upbringing taught her the qualities of faithful service, loyalty, discipline, grit, work ethic & always being on time. She was frequently found on her knees before the Father going to battle for her family. After Bills passing, she married Joe Nutter of Wichita, KS. She welcomed with joy his sons David, Gary & Charlie. Barb & Joe enjoyed happy years traveling & attending family events. Mostly they enjoyed a beautiful companionship as they cared for one another. Following Joes passing, Barb spent the last few years at Hefner Mansions where she made so many dear & fun friends. She enjoyed playing cards, cheering for her Packers, watching the Hallmark Channel, listening to Big Band music, swimming, leading Bible Study & attending her church, Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She spent her life investing in others & we are all the better because of her. Barb is survived by her siblings Joan Schultz, Kenneth Forsythe & Carolyn Seurer, all of Wisconsin; her children, Patrick & Lanette Halsey, Daniel & Carolyn Halsey, Donald & Linda Halsey, Jeannie & Michael Gunter and Billy & Shaina Harmon. She treasured her 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren & others. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Charita, Janice & Debbie of Hefner Mansions.
