Barbara Ann Nichols, 67, died December 19, 2017, peacefully at her residence in Oklahoma City. She was born June 28, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Norman Larry Scott, Sr. and Dorothy (Harvey) Scott. She spent the majority of her adult life caring for patients with head injuries at Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital at Southwest Medical Center. She loved to care for people, and she loved her job. Barbara was always known for her compassion and giant heart. She cared for animals just as much if not more than people. She loved going outside to the backyard of her center every morning to make sure the cats and wild rabbits were fed. She also loved to play Bing in her spare time and even took up knitting for a while. She loved listening to Keith Urban as he was her absolute favorite. She cherished her family and always made a point to celebrate the holidays. Barbara was preceded in death by both of her parents; her step-father, John "Mickey" Burns; longtime companion, William Lee Bennett; and 2 sons, David and Chris Bennington. She is survived by her son, Michael Nichols, of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Melissa Wood and husband Matt, of McLoud, OK; her granddaughter, Austyn Wood and grandson, Kawlin Bennington; brothers, Norman Larry Scott, Jr. and wife Gerrie, of Ft. Worth, TX, Brent Scott and wife Tina, of Edmond, OK; sister, Linda Thatch and her husband Glen, of Yukon, OK; her brothers, Tim Burns of Eagan, MN, Tom Burns of Eagan, MN, and John Burns and wife Nancy of Farmington, MN; her nieces, Valerie, Liz, Lesley, Tiffany, and Kristy; and many other cousins and friends. The family thanks you for your your love and support.Memorial service will be Thursday, December 21, 1:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
