Barbara Manning, 76, died on Saturday, September 25, 2010, in Oklahoma City. Born Barbara Maddox in Olustee, OK on January 10, 1934, she lived a life of quiet strength, devotion to family and unwavering spirit. Barbara was married to Doug Manning for 57 years and their partnership was one of mutual love, respect and support. She was predeceased by her parents, J.M. and Betty Maddox, and a grandson, Isaac Burns. She is survived by her husband, Doug, of the home, 4 daughters and their families: Glenda and Joe Stansbury, Kathy Burns, Cindy and Mel Perez, and Sandra and John Sherry; eight grandchildren: Darcy Baer, Jacob and Zachary Burns, Sunny Stansbury, Tanner Robinson, Morgan Perez, Stephen Sherry and Lindsay Lodes; four great-grandchildren Ethan and Parker Baer, Jaylie Robinson, and Jaycee Clouse. The family would like to extend thanks to the CCU staff at Deaconess for their vigilant care, to Dr. Wade McCoy for service beyond the call, and to the hundreds of people who have expressed their sympathy and their love. We were lucky to have her and devastated that she is gone. Visitation will be Tuesday, 9:009:00 and the family will be available on Wednesday from 6:309:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. A reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning with the funeral service following at 11:00 at Mayflower Congregational Church, 3901 NW 63rd and burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
