Obituary

Arlie Dee Hardesty, born October 28, 1921 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Dee Edward and Bertha Mae (Guinn) Hardesty, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long battle with congestive heart failure on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the age of 87. Arlie was married to Winnie Walker on April 3, 1952 in Konawa, Oklahoma, and they lived their entire 48 years of married life in Oklahoma City and Bethany. He proudly served in the US Army 872nd Engineer Aviation Battalion during WWII. He operated a bulldozer clearing land for runways for aircraft in the Pacific arena. His grandsons never tired of talking with him and hearing his military stories. His job experience was varied, including: auto body repair work, bulldozer operator, janitor and heating and air conditioning maintenance technician. One hobby he enjoyed was tinkering in the garage with cars fixing them up to running speed. Arlie was a member of New Hope Worship Center and attended services there as long as he was physically able. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie. He is survived by his daughters, Diane Gaston of Oklahoma City, and Debbie Moore and her husband Rick, his grandchildren, Joel, Jessey and Charlotte Moore, all of Bethany. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joann Hardesty of Manteca, California, his nephew Rick and wife Carol and children Richie, Jamie and Dale, as well as numerous friends and extended family members. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 23, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, with interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery.
