April Susan Holman died peacefully in the arms of her family on Wednesday, January 28th, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born April 17th, 1946 in Atchison, KS to Harry and Mary Kay Dowell. She attended several schools as her family moved about Kansas and Nebraska before attending Phillips University in Enid, OK. While working in Enid as a bank teller, she met her husband, Roy Bruce Holman. Bruce and April were married on April 5, 1969 in Oklahoma City, where they made their home together until Bruce's passing in 2011. April was known by all for her open and giving heart which she shared unsparingly with her family and friends. She rejoiced in God's creation and was inspired by His spirit, making her both a passionate naturalist and a gifted artist. April was a dedicated member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, assembling in Newcastle, OK. She was preceded in death by her father Harry and mother Mary Kay, and by her husband Bruce. She is survived by her sister Anita Slie of Spring, TX; sister Carol Jo Bussey of Greeley, CO; brother Rick Dowell of Wilson, WY; brother Tom Dowell of Kansas City, KS; daughter Holly Holman, of Oklahoma City; sons Jeff and Ben of Tulsa, OK, and their wives Nora and Elizabeth; four grandsons, Samuel, Henry, George, and Joshua Louis; and granddaughter, Marlowe. Visitation will be 11am-9pm Sunday and 9am-9pm Monday with the family to receive friends from 6pm-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, February 3 at Newcastle Church of the First Born, State Highway 37, Newcastle, OK 73065 with burial to follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK.
