Obituary

Antoinette (Toni) Marie Powers passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at her home in Bethany, Oklahoma with her family at her bedside. She was 93 years young. Toni was born into a Roman Catholic Italian family on October 6, 1927. She was one of 9 siblings. As a child growing up, her mother, Margarita Vitiritto, gave her the responsibility of cleaning the house. That chore influenced everything she did for the rest of her life. A highlight during her teen years was representing her high school in Des Moines, Iowa as a member of a girls traveling basketball team. As soon as she was old enough, she took a job at KATZ Drug Store in the record department and it was there she met the love of her life, Hardy John Powers. They eloped, got married, and one year later she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in a service at Dallas Central Church of the Nazarene. Her life would never be the same. After being married for two years they started their family and were blessed with seven children. NaNa, as her grandchildren called her, loved working in the church. She was an organizer and she served wherever she was needed. She was especially talented with charcoal drawings and crocheting, and she made hundreds of baby blankets for her family, friends, and people she never met. She loved collecting beautiful dolls, cobalt blue dishware and spoons from all over the world. Toni loved being outdoors, planting flowers and especially enjoyed picking all the dandelions out of her yard. She loved a clean house, rodeos, traveling, Christmas decorations, and fixing spaghetti for anyone that visited her. Toni loved her husband, children, and her grandkids, and tried to help them more than there is time or space to share. Most of all, she loved serving Jesus and telling others about Him. We all knew if we asked her to pray, her prayers would reach the throne of God and be answered. She had a special connection with her Heavenly Father. Her family deeply loved her, and she will be greatly missed.
