Anthony Lai Kim Le, 75, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2017 at Mercy Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on August 12 at Our Lady's Cathedral of OKC. Viewing will be Thursday and Friday 9am 9pm, with prayer services from 7-9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany.
Deacon Anthony was born to Thach Le and Nu Vu in Ninh Binh, Phat Giem, Vietnam on August 28, 1941.
When Deacon Anthony grew up he entered officer training and was stationed at Binh Tuy where he met a young lady from Ha Nam, Phu Ly and they began courting. He and Martha Hien Le (Tran) were married on October 30, 1966. Their marriage of 50 years was a great testament to their love for each other.
Deacon Anthony served as a Major in the South Vietnamese Army.
Their three children were all born in Binh Tuy. Mary Anna Huyen was born in 1968, followed by Anthony Cuong in 1970, and Peter Lich in 1972.
They lived in Binh Tuy until the end of the war and in 1975 left Vietnam and traveled to the United States through Guam and were brought to Fort Chaffee in Arkansas. After a month their family was sponsored for citizenship and relocated to the Oklahoma City area.
Deacon Anthony worked for Fred Jones Enterprises for 20 years in maintenance and retired at age 58 so that he could spend more time focusing on his work with the Church. Deacon Anthony was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church on November 15th, 2002 and served with a loving and giving heart until August of 2016 at age 75 where health caused him to retire from active serving.
Deacon Anthony is survived by his wife; three children, Mary Anna Huyen Kelly and husband Curtis and two grandchildren Carri Ann Silkey and husband Caleb and Kristen Erin Reece and husband Zachary; Anthony Cuong Le, and Peter Lich Le and wife Nichole, and two grandchildren Mackenzie Mai and Madison An; and the rest of his family and friends.
Deacon Anthony was predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Hoa Thi Le, Phuong Phi Le, Yen Thi Le, Nhan Thi Le, Lan Kim Le, Hong Thi Le, and Loi Huu Le.
