Annette Zamrzla died September 14, 2018 at the age of 95. She was born November 5, 1922, the only child of Alexander William and Helen (Schenck) Steinle, in Galatia, Kansas, where her father was the owner of a grocery store. He promptly purchased a brand-new Model T Ford car (black) to celebrate the occasion!
Annette was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ernest E. (Ike) Zamrzla. She is survived by her only child, William Harvey Lamb.
After graduation from high school in Wilson, Kansas as valedictorian of her class in 1940, she went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence graduating as Phi Beta Kappa in 1944. After graduation, she and Norman C. Lamb of St. Louis, Missouri, were married. Soon after, he was sent to the South Pacific where he remained until the war ended in 1945. During the war years, she taught high school English and Speech in Wilson and Simpson, Kansas. In July 1949, their son, William was born. The marriage ended in divorce in 1950.
On August 13, 1960, she and Ernest E. Zamrzla were united in marriage. He had established his law practice in Oklahoma City and she transferred from GMAC in Salina, Kansas, where she had been working since 1951, to GMAC Oklahoma City. She continued there until retirement in 1981 after 30 years total with that company. She was Secretary to the Control Branch Manager from 1966 until retirement. She spent happy years in retirement doing all the things she loved best reading, genealogy, walking, and seeing and talking with dear friends. She was sustained throughout her life with a deep love of God and a continuing study of the Bible.
Memorial service will be held at St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City on Monday, September 17 at 10:00am with private interment in Wilson, Kansas.
