Memorial services for Ann Mary Elizabeth Susanna Turner, nee Sevon Shipley, 76, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Southern Plaza located at 3737 N. College Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma with Pastor Rick Carter officiating.
Ann Turner was born to William (Bill) Seab Shipley and Flossie Heaston Shipley on October 3, 1939 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She went Home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 18, 2016, in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Ann moved to Oklahoma City with her parents when she was three. She accepted Christ as her Saviour on April 24, 1954. She graduated from U. S. Grant High School in 1957, first in a class of 119 students. She attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri for the next three years.
She graduated summa cum laude from Central State College (now UCO) in 1969 with a Bachelors Degree in Library Science and a minor in French. While at CSC, she was a member of SEA and Alpha Chi fraternity. She received her Masters Degree in Library Science from OU in 1972.
Ann was employed by Oklahoma City Schools as a Media Specialist at U. S. Grant High School from 1969 to 1989. Ann served as President of the teachers union, OKC-AFT, from 1988 to 1991. She was the Media Specialist at Webster Middle School from 1991-1994. She was employed as the Media Specialist at Southeast High School from 1994 until her retirement in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two daughters, Mari Dixon and Anne Hanson-Evans (husband Tony Evans); eight grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jimmy, Adam, Jordan, Ariel, Jericho, Luke, and Russ; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, James, Katelyn, and another due in November; and other extended family and friends.
