Ann Rose (France) Riggs, age 85, went home to her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2010. Ann was born the eldest of 3 daughters in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to Mary Eleanor (Clauser) and Patrick France. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School with a scholarship in Language. She then attended Eastern Nazarene College, Wollaston, Mass., transferring to Bethany Peniel College where she graduated with a BA in Spanish and English. There she met Olen L Riggs, JR., and they married on her graduation day. She was an elementary school teacher in Ohio for several years and continued as a substitute teacher for a good many more years. She and her husband moved to Ponca City when Olen accepted a research position with Conoco. While living in Ponca City, she was an active member of the First church of the Nazarene teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was the church pianist and assistant organist. She was also one of the leaders in Campfire Girls and Cub Scouts. She loved her family and was devoted to her children, providing them with a sense of personal security and Christian responsibility. Her life was filled with compassion for those who had needs. This was an outgrowth of love for her Lord. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Olen; daughter Debra Riggs and husband McCall Bundy; son Michael Riggs and wife Debbie; sisters Jean Furbay and Evelyn Courtright; niece Jeanne Reese; and grandchildren P.J. and Emma Riggs. Services to honor her life will be Thursday, Jan. 21, 2:00 pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery.
