Ann Kathleen Amason was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 16, 1941. She passed away February 15, 2013 in Oklahoma City surrounded by her family. Ann is the daughter of Reverend Harry and Gladys Myers. She was proud to have a father who was a pioneer in the Assembly of God church. Over the years her family lived in Tulsa, Springfield, Concordia, St. Louis, Miami, Willmar and Minneapolis. Ann attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis where she studied Child Evangelism. She later studied elementary education at the University of Central Oklahoma. Ann married Neal Paulson and they had two daughters: Jeanne Renee and Kathleen JaNeale. Ann loved to teach children and youth. She was a substitute teacher and also taught in Sunday school, Christ Ambassadors, Vacation Bible School and Missionettes. All of the children loved her because she could act like a kid and join in the fun. Ann married Don Amason in Las Vegas and they had one son, Christopher Amason. Don and Ann loved to travel together. Don preceded her in death. Ann worked for many years as a Property Manager at Pheasant Run Apartments. She served as President of the Central Oklahoma Apartment Association. Ann thought of her work place as a mission field. Over the years she helped many people who could not financially afford to live in a nice home be able to do so, and also had a devotional time with her employees every morning. Ann founded the Golden Oklahoman in Oklahoma City - an activities center for senior citizens. Ann was active in many Republican organizations. She was a member and officer of the Tri-City Republican Women's Club, a board member of the Oklahoma County Republican Executive board, and was the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women 2011 Woman of the Year. She hosted several fundraisers for Republican political candidates and loved contributing positively to Oklahoma public policy in any way she could. On March 16, 2005 the Oklahoma State Senate and House of Representatives honored Ann for her life of service and love. Ann loved to talk to everyone and could make you feel like a close friend, which you were once she was done talking. She loved holidays and throwing parties to celebrate them. She often ate dessert for dinner and frequented Braums for their ice cream. She always painted her nails, had lots of jewelry and loved to do her makeup - a true girly girl. Ann loved to be outside and enjoyed watching the sky. She would stop to look at things because she didn't want to miss anything. Ann loved to garden and spent hours at the flower shop. She loved to teach the art of gardening to anyone who would listen. She loved to beautify everything. Ann loved to sing and was a member of the church choir for many years. Ann has 6 grandchildren: Maressa Kathleen Treat, Bethany Ann Young, Lauren Jeanne Young, Bailey Rae Frances Young, Reagan Christopher Amason and Baylor Christian Amason. She also has 3 great grandchildren: Mason Gregory Treat, Cooper Paulson Treat and Olivia Kathleen Treat. Ann made sure to build relationships with all of her grandchildren, and they love her dearly. She is also survived by a sister, Carole Preston, and brother, Charlie Myers. Her family remembers her fondly as being their spontaneous, generous, loving, selfless, hilarious, eclectic, food burning, song singing, art loving, gardening, sun soaking, Jesus loving Momma Ann / Ma Ann. Family was Ann's first priority and because of that she has left behind a legacy that will live on for generations.
