Obituary

Alvin Richard Lawson, retired rancher, farmer and electrician, died August 12, 2015. He was born March 31, 1937 in Oklahoma City to Vincent and Lorene Lawson. A lifelong Oklahoma resident, he was a 4th generation Oklahoman. His great-grandfather made the Land Run of 1889, settling around the Yukon area. Alvin was a 1955 graduate of Putnam City H.S., lettering in both track and wrestling. He served in the U.S. Army, artillery unit both home and abroad from 1956 to 1958. He married Linda Balaty, August 27, 1966, and they enjoyed 49 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Agricultural Stabilization Committee. Alvin loved animals and enjoyed all kinds of wildlife, raising and showing quarter horses, NASCAR, baseball, and most of all, spending time with his grand kids. Preceded in death by his parents, Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Linda; twin brother, Melvin Lawson and wife Margaret of OKC; brother George Lawson and wife Ann of El Dorado, KS; sister-in-law, Janet Colgan and husband John of Edmond, sons, Gary Lawson and wife Jennifer of Edmond, Greg Lawson and wife Kristi of OKC, and Bryce Lawson and wife Kari of Edmond; granddaughter, Lydia Grace Lawson; grandsons, Wyatt, Carter and Landry Lawson; nieces, Anita, Sherrie and Debra; and nephews, Larry and Darrell Lawson. A special thank you to Dr. Brian Geister, and all the wonderful staff at the Integris Cancer Institute. Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm at Mercer-Adams in Bethany. Services will be Saturday, August 15, 10:00am at Acts 2 United Methodist Church, 4848 W. Covell Road, Edmond with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
