Alverna Jo Scribner, known lovingly by her family and friends as Jo, died January 14, 2020. She was born in Leedey, OK to Wanda (Brown) Russell and Otis Paul Russell. She was married briefly to Harry Robert Gale, Sr. and to this union one son, Harry Robert Gale, Jr. was born. In 1946, Jo moved to Oklahoma City with her young son, where she attended Draughns Business College and Pauls Beauty College. In 1947, she married the love of her life, John Dee Scribner. After his death in 1996, she lived in her home until 2007, moving to Concordia Life Care Community where she continued her knitting, crocheting and volunteer work. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and son. She is survived by a daughter, Deena Jo Anderson; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, January 20, 10:30am at Zion Lutheran Church, 7701 W. Britton Rd., OKC conducted by Pastor Ron Christie.
