Obituary

Alma LeJean Humes was born Feb. 23, 1928, and was taken to her Heavenly Home on December 17, 2017. She was born in Jennings, MO, to Grover K. and Corienne C. Chartrau. Alma was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra LeJean Caringer, who was stillborn on Oct. 17, 1950, and by her husband, Floyd Caringer in Sept. 1956. She married Lester Donald Humes in June 1963 in Ft. Worth, TX, and enjoyed a wonderful life with him until his death in April 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Doloras Dailey, Glenwood Chartrau, Grover K. Chartrau, Jr., Mary Kress, Linda Peirick, and James Chartrau. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Chartrau; niece; Jana Briggs and her husband, Harold; great niece, Holly Hoffman, Oklahoma City; nephew, Keith Chartrau, Ferndale, MI; other nieces and nephews, including John and Janice Dailey, Betty Sarlo, Peggy Jecklin, Randy Kress, Charles Kress, and Barbara Melton; and nieces and nephews of Donald Humes including Corliss Smith and husband, Danny, Clifford Worthy and wife Calissa, and Valorie Eddy and husband Alan. Alma and Don were faithful members of Hallmark Baptist Church in Ft. Worth; they moved to Oklahoma City, OK in Dec. 1999, and were members of Village Baptist Church. Alma retired from Texas Electric Service Co. in Ft. Worth.A time of viewing for Oklahoma City friends will be held at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A graveside service will be conducted at Greenwood Funeral Home in Ft. Worth, TX, at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017. The family expresses special thanks to the Mercy Hospital ICU, Mercy Hospital staff, and Hospice caregivers and to Almas friends, neighbors and caregivers who provided wonderful support and friendship.
