Obituary

Allen Stanley Shire was born to Harry and Irene Shire in Durand, MI, on May 19, 1936. He died Jan. 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Shire and Harry Shire, II. He served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957. Al married Martha Sue Logan on December 15, 1957, in Hereford, TX. He is survived by his wife, Martha; three sons, Allen Dean Shire of Texas, Jeffrey Don Shire and his wife Katie of Maineville, OH, and Todd Derek Shire and his wife Lezli of Yukon, OK; sister, Jeanette Ockerman Baron of Michigan; and six grandchildren, Stephanie Sue Shire, Bailey Adam Shire, Dylan James Shire, Nathaniel Allen Shire, Savannah Faith Shire, and Kian Michael Shire. Al and Martha lived their lives in many different parts of the U.S., including Corunna, MI, Yuma, AZ, Pacifica, CA, Durand, MI, Hereford, TX, Irving, TX, Austin, TX and Cincinnati, OH. Before being disabled in his early 40's, Al loved to hunt and fish on his family farm, coach football and baseball, and loved to spend time with Martha and the boys. His career was working in sales and service for Sears (where he won the National Sales Award) and Woodard, and selling real estate with Shire Construction and Brokerage. His last stop before his disability was owning his own business in Hereford, TX, "Kitchen Appliance Center", where he sold and serviced all appliances for the home. He was deeply loved and will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be Friday, January 7, 2:00 p.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
