Obituary

Alan Dean Carley, 42, of Oklahoma City passed away at home June 5, 2011. He was born Jan. 29, 1969 in Nederland, Texas to Don Adam and Linda Lou (Jones) Carley. He was a 1988 graduate of Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas and attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, 1989-91. He worked for Marriott for several years and then joined United Airlines as a customer service representative in Oklahoma City and Denver, Colorado, returning to Will Rogers World Airport in 2004. He began his battle with cancer in December 2009. Alan Dean especially enjoyed his work on the ramp with UA and often took advantage of the benefits that UA employment afforded to travel around the world. He relished spending time in conversation with friends and family, often while productively engaged in wood working, home improvement or yard work projects. His company always made the work light and the time pass quickly. He was an attentive uncle to his eight nieces and nephews, taking time to be involved in their interests whenever he could. He was a stalwart, caring and dependable brother to his siblings and a devoted and loving son to his parents. He is survived by his parents. Surviving siblings include: sister and brother-in-law Lea Ann Carley Sattler and Alan Grant Sattler of Vicenza, Italy; brother and sister-in-law Don Adam Carley II and Cheryl Renee (Stemen) Carley of Bethany, Oklahoma; and his twin sister and brother-in-law Anita Gail (Carley) Feland and Stephen Paul Feland of Yukon, Oklahoma. He is survived by his eight nieces and nephews: Anna Gail Sattler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marcus Grant Sattler, Victoria Grace Sattler, Seth Adam Carley, Emma Nicole Carley, Kayla Elizabeth Feland, Curtis Alan Feland and Macy Joy Feland. He is also survived by uncle and aunt Richard and Glenda (Hogeland) Carley of Owasso, Oklahoma, and uncle and aunt Donald Lee Jones and Linda Kaye (Smith) Jones of Herndon, Virginia. Surviving cousins include Jennifer Diana Jones of Berryville, Virginia and Allison Ramsey (Jones) Rios of Richmond, Virginia. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 6-9 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, OK 73008. Services will be Thursday, June 9, 2 p.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008-2645. Officiant will be Senior Pastor David Busic. Memorials may be made to Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Swaziland Partnership Onsite Coordinators.
