She was born December 23, 1990 in Lubbock, Texas to Glenn West and Karyn (West) Brownlee. Aimee grew up almost entirely in Coppell, Texas, from kindergarten through her graduation from Coppell High School. She started swimming competitively in elementary school with the YMCA Coppell Cruisers. She was also a member of USA Swimmings Grapevine-Colleyville Aquatic Team, and after college, on two USA Masters teams. A graduate of Coppell High School in 2009, she was a Swim Captain and the Vice President of the National Art Honor Society. She then attended Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where she swam all four years, served as a Swim Captain, and graduated with a degree in Studio Art. She went on to become an accomplished professional oil painter. Her final solo show was entitled, "Hope Revealed," based on Matthew 27:51. She was also the Director Emeritus of Art Tooth, a nonprofit she co-founded to foster artists and the arts economy. She was expected to receive her MBA this December from Oklahoma State University, where she held a 4.0 grade point average and had only two courses remaining. Aimee grew up in the arms of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, where she was actively involved from a young age. It was there she married the love of her life, Lucas Cardoso, of Coppell, Texas on April 26, 2014. Together they made everyone feel they were their best friends and made a huge impact on every group and community they touched. In addition to Prestonwood, she and her husband were active members of Compass Church, Colleyville, Texas, and Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Bethany, Oklahoma.
