Alice Eileen McMullen, 92, a former Bethany resident of 62 years, went to her home in heaven, April 29, 2022. She was born June 15, 1929 in Piedmont, OK. She died peacefully at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.
She was a school teacher in Minco, Oklahoma for a few years and was loved by her students for many years after quitting. She met her husband, Robert, in Minco and they were married for 64 years until his death. After they were married, she became a wife and mother.
She was a member of St. Johns Methodist Church for over 60 years until it closed. She was very active in the UMW, the choir, and anything else going on there. She was very involved with her grandchildren and attended every function that they were in. She was very proud of their accomplishments. She loved her great-grandchildren also and was very proud of them.
The last 4 years of her life she resided at Baptist Village Assisted Living Center. She thrived there. She was a master at dominoes, learned how to play Skip-Bo, and enjoyed Bingo. She was well cared for and loved there. The family wants to thank the nurses and all the staff there for her care.
Eileen is survived by her children, Glenda and Stan Compton, and Roy and Terry McMullen; grandchildren, James and Christina Compton; great-grandchildren, Marley, Justin, William, Samuel, Benjamin, and Lillian. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Louise Edgmon and Eileen McMullen, and brother-in-law, Ernest McMullen. She is also survived by many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and lots of friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert McMullen; her parents, Arthur and Olive Gilmore; sisters, Wilma Gilmore, and Miriam Harper; and brother, Wayne Gilmore. She was also preceded in death by many in-laws that were like her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Jeremy McMullen.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses on the 5th floor of Integris Deaconess Hospital for their care for mother the last week of her life. Also, very sincere thanks to the nurses at the Integris "The Hospice House" for the loving care they gave mother the last two days of her life. She was at last at peace there. Thank you.
Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 9am-8pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams, Bethany.
Services will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10:00am. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Hospital, Shriners Hospital, or your favorite charity in Eileen McMullens name.
