Janice Cottam, 87, died July 5, 2014 in OKC. She was born December 2, 1926 in Arkansas City, KS to Fred and Gladys Cason. She was always proud to say she was a Jayhawk. Her eye caught the nuances of nature as she loved to paint scenes of outdoor places. And with her talent-ladened personality she developed her own oil painting style which included life-size murals in four different church baptisteries. She even taught painting classes at the last few of her residences. She also enjoyed getting together with her artist buddies, usually meeting every week to fabricate works of art. Janice was a devoted pastor's wife who sang and played the piano and organ. She was a charter member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene and regularly attended the Calvary Bible Fellowship Church. Pastor Mark was her faithful minister. She was very happy with her hospice team. Emerald Hospice showered her with attention and compassionate care in her last days. Thanks to all the dedicated staff who touched her life and met her end-of-life needs. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Leon and R.D. Cason, her twin sister, Jannette Wilson, and husband, Ted Cottam. Survivors include her son, Dave Cottam and wife Jeanie of OKC; daughter, Sharon Morse and husband Ed of OKC; five grandchildren, Geron Cottam and wife Lorrie of OKC, Jason Morse and wife Allice of KC, MO, Lisa Morse of OKC, Joey Morse and wife Brittany of OKC, Sharla McLaughlin and husband Justin of Tulsa. Janice is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, Elijah and Isaiah Morse, Avery, Collier and Amelia McLaughlin, Libby and Gauge Cottam. She invested her life in her family and in her church. She went to sleep Friday night and woke up in Heaven on Saturday morning where her Lord, her family and her friends greeted her in triumphant celebration. Viewing will be July 14, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Tuesday, July 15, 9:30am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at 2:00pm in Ft.
